Douglas County takes great interest in its history! For this very reason, the Douglas County Historical Society, and in turn, the Douglas County Museum were born.

A journal of family history is published twice yearly. If interested, families may write articles about its own history and the Historical Society will publish them! The Society compiles scrapbooks of information on births, deaths, marriages, schools records, local events, military service, etc. All marriage books are now complete for a total of 21. They can be obtained at the museum for $10 each or by mail for $12 each at PO Box 986, Ava, MO 65608. All cemetery books are complete. The Ava Cemetery book sells for $25. Vol I thru 4 sell for $20 each. Plus $2.00 postage for each book.
